Our Mission
The Women’s Ministry exists to equip women of all ages for the purposes of spiritual maturity in Christ and the work of service for the benefit of the body and the glory of God.
We use various tools to this end including: Bible studies, prayer opportunities, fellowship gatherings, yearly special events, one-on-one discipleship.
We aim to serve the body in many areas including the meals ministry, craft fellowships, hosting and greeting at women’s events, special conferences and retreats.
As Christians, we desire relationships that encourage us to make a deeper commitment in our walk with Jesus Christ. This vital ministry allows women to experience the benefits of mutual service alongside other women in the body.
Letter from the Director – Fall 2011
Dear Women of Occoquan:
As summer winds down, life’s pace changes once again to give way to NEW fall activities. Just like children face a brand NEW school year ahead, we too, kick-off a NEW ministry year: A variety of Bible studies, an exciting fall retreat, and opportunities for discipleship are just a few of the good works God has prepared for us to walk into this season (Eph. 2:10). Unfortunately, living in a fallen world, the beauty and excitement of newness arrive hand-in-hand with uncertainty. And although we may not be in school any more, we can count on the fact that tests do lie ahead.
The challenge consists in the choices we make as we face them: we either foolishly react in disbelief and fear, or we act wisely, according to Truth in trust and obedience. (Read and meditate on Psalm 37)
Regardless of circumstance, I challenge each of us–Christian women, to intentionally depend on the Lord for guidance and faith. I have been around long enough to assert with a fair amount of confidence that life is not neutral: if you are not presently in the midst of a trial, you just passed a testing of your faith, or you are about to enter into a season of hardship… that is the nature of the world we live in,
” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.” – Rom 8:37 NASB
Thankfully, believers can face the challenges each new day brings with faith in Christ. In an uncertain future, the living Redeemer of our souls is FAITHFUL and TRUE (Rev. 3:14). He continues His refining process within our hearts, to finish the work He began in us (Phil. 1:6) because of His name’s sake.
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh
I shall see God; Whom I myself shall behold,
And whom my eyes will see and not another…”
(Job 19:25-27a NASB)
In the daily issues of life, and the seeming insurmountable tests, let us prayerfully depend on the “fresh supply of grace” we have in Jesus… Let us live like we believe!
Praying for you,
Cecilia Connell
