Christmas Carols: Beholding Christ in the Psalms

Taken from over one thousand years of Israelite history. Comprised of one hundred fifty different songs. Penned by seven authors, maybe more. Divided into five books. The Psalms only have one subject. Despite all its divergence the Psalter—Israel’s prayer book—has one central theme—the worship of Israel’s God and the sure hope that his Messiah is coming to save suffering people from their sins and the world’s evil. Keeping this unified perspective of the Psalms in place we see how the 150 Psalms point us to Jesus Christ.

In keeping with the season, reading the Psalms as "Christmas Carols" will set our hearts ablaze as we remember God’s wisdom in redemptive history and his goodness in sending Jesus into the world.
