Care Net's Banquet and 100 Years of Planned Parenthood
This last Friday evening a few of us from OBC were able to attend Care Net’s annual Fundraising Banquet at the Westfields Marriott and listen to Roland C. Warren, President and CEO of Care Net national, a network of over 1,100 pregnancy centers. We love this ministry, and it is a joy to support their important work.
Here are some encouraging statistics from Care Net’s work in Prince William over this past year:
- 1,617 client visits
- 844 gospel presentations
- 7 HEART Bible Study Clients
- 291 ultrasounds performed
- 74 salvations/rededications
- 22 sexual integrity classes
- 85% of ultrasound clients choose life for their babies
- 148 babies born
- 1,027 parenting classes
- 6 Bible study classes
- 49 Dad-U classes
It was tremendously encouraging to hear how God is using Care Net in our community. We praise God for their ministry of the gospel, and we rejoice for the decisions that have been made for life!
On the other hand, there is devastating news:
- 5,221 abortions were performed in Northern Virginia in 2014.
- 1,356 of those abortions were in Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park.
And this is just a small picture of the murderous destruction of the abortion industry. As we look back at 100 years of atrocities from Planned Parenthood, we cannot help but grieve.
What should we do?
Meditate on the truth of God’s Word. What does the Bible say about the sanctity of life? This is a critical issue for God’s people. Read the following excerpt from our Statement of Faith:
“We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life [Ps. 139].”
Pray. Pray for the ministry of Care Net, that God would provide to expand their ministry to be able to care for the needs of those who are considering abortion, especially in Woodbridge, VA. Care Net needs a larger facility in Woodbridge so they can begin to offer ultrasound services. Their current Woodbridge facility is unable to meet this need, and most clients will not go to the Manassas center for an ultrasound. Pray for our nation, for the appointment of righteous judges and for the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
Study. Learn more about this important issue and consider attending the Evangelicals for Life conference (January 26—28) in Washington, DC.
Give and Volunteer. Support the important work of Care Net, be it financially and/or by volunteering to help staff their locations in Manassas and Woodbridge. They have several volunteer slots currently available at both locations.
Speak. Be a voice for the unborn with your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
Vote. Use your vote to elect government officials who will act to defend the lives of the unborn.
March. Save-the-date and join us for the annual March for Life in Washington, DC (Friday, January 27, 2017).
By God’s grace, may we be faithful to defend, protect, and value all of human life.
