Elders' Christmas Letter
Dear OBC Family,
At this time of year we pause to reflect on Christmas - the wonder and glory of Immanuel, God with us - and look forward to a new year. During 2014 we have truly seen how God is with us in His care of us and provision for us. We have seen that in your care for one another and we would like to thank you for your faithfulness and generosity over this past year. Looking back, we have much to be thankful for. Even though this year has been difficult in many ways, we have seen God’s faithfulness and experienced the abundance of Christ’s all-sufficient grace.
We are learning to rest on Christ as the foundation of His church, and trust our Good Shepherd as He loves His flock and purifies His bride. We are thankful for the unity we share in Him with you, and for the blessing of fellowship as we share together in His body. Regardless of what we experience on this side of heaven, we share together in the greatest treasure of all in Christ.
Over this past year God has generously provided for the financial needs of Occoquan Bible through your faithfulness, and we are thankful for the honor of continuing to serve our Lord as ministers of the Gospel here in Northern Virginia.
As we continue into 2015, we will be continuing our pastoral discovery process as we seek the Lord and wait upon Him. To briefly update you on the process as we seek to bring a preaching pastor on staff in the coming months, our data gathering through the SWOT analysis, Strategic Listening Session, and CHAT survey is now complete. Thank you for giving your time and effort to this process, your input has been invaluable to us. The elders are reviewing this data and developing a profile of who OBC is and a profile of the man who will fit OBC's profile. Our prayer is that the Lord will lead us to a man who will share OBC's vision and goals. This part of the process will occur in the first quarter of 2015. After the profiles are developed, we will move to the consideration of men who fit this profile. This portion of the process, Lord willing, will take place during the second quarter of this year.
We invite you to fervent prayer for OBC and the man the Lord will bring to us. We also invite you
to join us for our annual congregational meeting on Sunday, February 8th, where we will share our annual financial report, communicate areas of emphasis for 2015, as well as outline in greater detail the next steps we will be taking together as a church in the new year.
We thank you for your commitment and love for Occoquan Bible over this past year, and ask that you continue to keep us in prayer as we seek the Lord’s will for OBC. We praise God for you! "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21)
May the Lord bless you and your family with His grace and peace as you celebrate the Gospel this Christmas!
With Christ’s love,
The Elders of Occoquan Bible Church
