Occoquan Bible Church is elder-led by biblically qualified men who serve as our pastors and under-shepherds of Christ our Chief Shepherd (1 Tim. 3; 1 Pet. 5).

Jared Bridges, Pastor of Family Ministries

Jared joined the Eldership Team in 2009. He provides pastoral oversight of Family Ministries which includes OBC’s children’s ministry classes, NextGen Kids, Community VBS, and other family ministries. A native of the Volunteer State, Jared studied at the University of Tennessee, and then moved to the former Soviet Union to serve the Lord as a campus minister. After returning to the U.S., he earned a M.Div. in Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, Kentucky). He and his family relocated to the D.C. area where he now works for a nonprofit. Jared and his wife Lori have been blessed with four children, and he enjoys cycling, reading, writing, teaching, and preaching on the more obscure texts of the Bible.

Ron Comoglio, Pastor of Music Ministry

Ron joined the Eldership Team in 2014, and he provides pastoral oversight of the Music Ministry. He also shepherds a Community Group and teaches Sunday classes. After retiring as a USAF officer, Ron has continued working for the USAF as a civilian. In his free time he enjoys music, college football (“Roll Tide”), and playing with his kids and grandson. As our resident meteorologist, it’s not uncommon to find him watching clouds and radar during storms. His favorite Bible verse is Psalm 34:3, "Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His Name together.”

  • While Ron is on sabbatical, questions will be directed to David Schrock

Jeff Dionise, Pastor of Outreach Ministry

Jeff joined the Eldership Team in 2013, and he provides pastoral oversight for OBC’s outreach ministry. Jeff loves to connect church members to community outreach opportunities, so that those in need may know the love of Christ in the Gospel.. As Jeff encountered Christ in the book of Colossians, specifically in Colossians 2:8-10, the supremacy of Jesus Christ has become his passion. During the week, Jeff serves the Lord in his career in the news media. He also enjoys teaching Sunday morning classes, and he and his wife Mary host a Community Group in their home. Jeff’s hobbies include art and performing as a magician!

Rod Fillinger, Pastor of Spiritual Care

Rod joined the Eldership Team back in 2002. He provides pastoral oversight to OBC’s Biblical Counseling, Benevolence, and Mercy ministries. Rod and his wife Cyndi have been married for 30 years and have 6 daughters (all of which have been homeschooled by Cyndi), and only two of whom still reside at home. Rod and Cyndi are burdened to see marriages established on Christ, marriages that reflect the Gospel portrait of Christ and his bride, the church. They also host a Community Group in their Lake Ridge home. Practicing law for the last 25 years, Rod currently serves as the Counsel to the Inspector General at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In their “free time” you’ll find them at the pool, where Rod serves as a USA Swimming official. Rod’s curious hobbies include reading philosophy and wearing bow ties.

Ben Purves, Pastor of Community & member care

Ben provides pastoral oversight of OBC's Community Groups and Member Care. This includes our Discover OBC class, baptism, membership, and shepherding our church family into community, discipleship, and service. Our Community Groups meet in members' homes during the week throughout Prince William County as we share life together. Ben joined OBC’s staff in 2008, and the Eldership Team in 2010. He graduated with a B.A. in Bible and Theology from Multnomah Bible College (Portland, OR) and an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Capital Bible Seminary (Lanham, MD). The Lord has blessed Ben and his wife Ricki with three children. Hobbies include teaching his children to enjoy the wilderness, LEGO building with them at home, or working his way through the works of John Newton.

Dave Ross, Pastor of Youth & Missions

Dave and his family have lived in Woodbridge since 2000. He and his wife Diana have been blessed with 20+ years of marriage, and they have four daughters. During the week Dave works as an attorney for a law firm in D.C., where he practices in the areas of class action defense, commercial and business litigation. Dave’s community involvement includes serving on the boards of his HOA and a local summer youth swim team (the Lake Ridge Lancers). His daily routine usually includes a middle of the night workout, and his children frequently remind him that the trainers on the videos seem to be performing the workouts much better than their sweating and stumbling father. Most importantly, he and his family have all recognized their status as sinners and embraced the sole means of resolution for that sin – Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Be forewarned should Dave try to recruit you for flag football!

David Schrock, Pastor of Preaching & Theology

Born and raised in Midlothian, Virginia, David has spent the last two decades in various parts of the Midwest. He graduated with a B.A. from Albion College (Albion, Michigan) and an M.Div. and Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, Kentucky). His greatest passion is to proclaim Christ from all the Scriptures, in order to make disciples from all the nations. He is married to Wendy and they have four energetic children. In his free time he enjoys running, reading, and writing. He blogs at Via Emmaus and is working on his first book, The Royal Priesthood and the Glory of God (Crossway, 2019).
